Catenary Catenary

Catenaries are among the most well-known elements of railway infrastructure, as they are amongst the most visible. They are the collections of cables placed above the tracks, used for transmitting electrical current, thus supplying the trains with electricity via the pantograph. Today, alternative solutions have been found to permit the circulation of some catenary-free trains. However, use of these overhead electric cables remains extremely widespread across the railway world.
